I've been in the exciting business of radio for more years than I care to admit, and have worked on nearly every format from classic rock to country! My career has only helped to make me a true music lover! When I'm not working, I enjoy reading, puzzles, and baking. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my wonderful husband, Bill, and talk via Skype or internet chat with my great son, Dylan, who is serving our country in the greatest Air Force in the world! Shoot me an e-mail or a request anytime!

I’m Lia. The host. The Facilitator. The sticky substance that holds the stories together with the songs. I’m the gal who can’t for the life of me keep a secret yet everyone seems to tell me their secrets anyway. I love my job. I’m happily married to the luckiest guy on earth, Chad. I have 4 kids. All of them smart, spoiled and love country music. In my spare time I play word games, mind games and lock myself in the bathroom for 5 minutes of peace at least once a day. Here’s a secret about me: I never talk on the phone when I’m not at work. That could be because I do it every night for hours. My sisters complain constantly about me never calling them back. Even my husband occasionally goes to voice mail. We have 2 dogs and spend as much spare time as we can on our boat. Even holidays like Christmas and New Years we’re on that boat.
I was born and raised in Kentucky. My mom, a Southern Belle housewife, and my dad, a farmer, bar owner, janitor, banjo picker, had finally had enough kids. I was the last of four and, believe me, I think I was the reason they didn't want anymore! I grew up a small town in Kentucky, with not much to do there but plug my ears while my dad tried to pick his banjo and run through the sprinklers on a hot summer's day. I was definitely a Daddy’s Girl. Even though I hated that banjo, I loved my dad. The hardest thing I ever went through in my life was the death of my dad. I was only fifteen--too much for a young girl to take! When I was a kid Country Music was always around. In the car, in the house, at my dad’s bar. I have to admit most of my teenage years were spent listening to Rock Music. I was a HUGE fan of Pink Floyd. We’d have music wars in our home with my dad cranking up “He Stopped Loving Her Today” to dry to drown out my “Comfortably Numb.”
I left Kentucky, my family, my friends and my life behind after my dad passed and moved hundreds of miles cross-country to be with my oldest sister, Connie (my role model, best friend and confidante), and her husband. I finished school and moved out on my own at 17. I went off to college with absolutely no idea what I was going to do with my life. Purely by accident, I got into Country radio. Believe me when I say that I am sure my dad teamed up with God to make that happen.
As far as this show goes, I just want you to know that we all work very hard each night to put this thing together. I'm so lucky to have such a great team of people to work with.

Kix Brooks began performing and writing songs at age 12 in his hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. He performed in clubs and other venues throughout high school and college. Eventually he landed in Nashville, where he joined Tree Publishing Company and had songs cut by artists such as the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John Conlee, and Highway 101. In 1990 Brooks teamed with Ronnie Dunn to form Brooks & Dunn, who are the highest selling duo in the history of country music. They have sold more than 30 million records, have had 23 #1 hits, and have won over 80 major industry awards. Brooks & Dunn currently hold the record for number of awards won at both the ACM and the CMA Awards and continue to be a driving force in the music industry. Brooks is also the host of American Country Countdown which is an internationally syndicated radio program that counts down the top 40 country songs of the previous week.
Brooks served as President, in 2004, and Chairman, in 2005, of the Country Music Association (CMA). He remains an active board member of the CMA and serves as part of the Blue Ribbon Committee. The Blue Ribbon Committee is a select group of professionals including the mayor, chosen to bring the city of Nashville and the Music Industry closer together. Brooks is also on the boards of Vanderbilt Children´s Hospital and the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is the local spokesperson for Monroe Harding Children Home and has recently been appointed as a director for 1st American Bank.

I celebrate my 20th year at WKJC in 2011. Lot's of changes since my first steps into the world of radio back in the mid '80's. From records, to reel to reel tape machines, to CD's, and now computers. Some of the high points in my career have been on the sports side of things. Certainly at the top is working with my broadcast partner, Jeff Doan. He's a Bay City boy like me. Have had the opportunity to broadcast numerous State Championship Games on the high school level. The Pontiac Silverdome and at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. And many more exciting games in and around the area. I know I've forgotten more than I'll ever remember. Though almost coming to blows with another radio station broadcast crew ranks on the humorous side of things. And a couple of M.A.B. awards gives you a certain amount of credibility, and validates what you do. And when you've been doing this for so long, you meet some incredible people in the community. I'm always humbled when someone comes up to me and starts a conversation just because they know who I am. Also can't begin to tell you about the incredible people that I work with here at Carroll Broadcasting. From the front office, to sales, to engineering. And of course to the bossman John Carroll... the reason why we are still a local, family owned station. You want cumulus, look for a cloud. And the biggest perk of this job resulted in the marriage to my wife Mariann. The only question left is what the next 20 years will bring.
